Minister Dempsey on our Kalkhoff Agattu
Minister Dempsey gives onlookers a high five riding our Kalkhoff Agattu. On April 16th 2010 Minister for transport Noel Dempsey officially opened the new cycle and walkway in Westport, Co Mayo. This 17.5km off-road cycle and walking route between Newport and Mulranny in Co. Mayo is mainly along the former Midland Great Western Railway line. Its development has been made possible by a €1.6 Million investment by the government and the agreement of local landowners who have allowed permissive access along this former rail line to enable this world class cycling and walking route. This cycleway was originally a Railway which formed part of the once famous Westport to Achill Railway. It opened in 1894 and closed in 1937. The scenery is breathtaking and it is almost entirely off road, thereby making it very safe and relaxing.
A great day was had by all and Minister Dempsey had an opportunity to try the Kalkhoff Agattu which as you can see he thoroughly enjoyed. It is very encouraging to see the continued investment in a greener, healthier and safer transport infrastructure such as this route.
We would recommend you try this route and contact Paul Harmon about hire or purchase of the kalkhoff bikes.
